The founders of Restharrow Literary are early-career artists and writers. We know personally how defeating taking a chance on a publication and getting a rejection letter out of the blue six months later can feel. We also personally know the joy of publishing and being published for the first time. While other magazines may view an empty resume as a reason to turn a writer away, we hope that as our organization develops, many writers will be able to call Restharrow Literary home to their first-ever publication. If you’re on the fence about submitting for the first-time, go for it—you’re among friends here.

Hi, there! We are Restharrow Literary. We publish poetry, multimedia (art, photography, cross-genre work), prose (fiction and nonfiction), and essays. Our magazine publishes biannually in April, when the world wakes up, and in October, when it goes back to sleep. We are currently accepting submissions for our October publication via email: restharrowliterary@gmail.com. Essay submissions for our blog are accepted year-round. If you’re interested in being featured, shoot an email over to restharrowliterary@gmail.com.
All written submissions should be submitted as a Word doc with a proposed title and an artist bio (5-6 sentences max). We will not accept a Google Doc. Ensure your piece is double-spaced in Times New Roman, 12 point font. Photography and art submissions must be submitted as a PDF. Ensure your submission is well-lit and cropped to suit your piece. Please review the guidelines below on genre caps and word count limits. There’s no fee to submit and we accept simultaneous submissions! If you’re submitting simultaneously, just include a note with your submission letting us know and notify us if your piece has been accepted elsewhere. Responses will be provided as soon as possible via email or Submittable. On the damn robots: Use of AI is not permitted. If we suspect your submission is AI-generated, it will result in an automatic rejection. We want to publish work made by humans, not stolen from them.
